Bio
Judith Parenio has
a romance with natural settings and has been heavily influenced by travel in
unpopulated deserts and forests as well as international travel, especially in
Mexico. She uses colors and shapes
from nature as a catalyst for another way of seeing, but many of her images
come from her interest in indigenous civilizations and their symbols. Early work in clay sculpture brought
about her need for texture. The
wide variety of materials in mixed media artwork, including photographs,
collage, painting, drawing, encaustic and the monoprint with it’s spontaneity,
have combined in her work to allow her to create clear, bold impressions and to
connect with the voice of her heart.
Her education was
at UC Long Beach, Orange Coast College, Chouinard Art Institute, and Mesa
Community College; and she has taught in workshops and private
institutions. She has exhibited in
San Diego for over 30 years and her art is in collections throughout the United
States and Mexico, Australia and Europe.
